As we don our Christmas jumpers and sip our mulled wine here at M D & D HQ we’ve teamed up with one of the most influential bloggers on the luxury block, Remie’s Luxury Blog, to find out about how she gets her home Christmas ready…
A bit about Remie…
You only have to take a quick flick through the posts on Remie’s Luxury Blog to realise that when it comes to style, luxury and exquisite taste she’s got it wrapped up. As well as being an esteemed wordsmith, Remie has an incredible eye for design both in fashion and in the home.
We took a glimpse into Remie’s immaculately presented world to find out how she spends the run up to the festive season and most importantly what she considers the home accessory must-haves for this time of year.
Before we get into all things festive let’s talk interiors. What style have you adopted in your home and why?
If I had to sum up my personal interior style, I’d say it’s luxurious yet understated, but above all timeless. I’m a big advocate of restrained glamour and I’m drawn to neutral shades with touches of metallic here and there to add a glamourous feel. I love to experiment with sumptuous textures and opulent accessories. For me, comfort is key and I love the White Company for those pieces that finish off a room perfectly such as cloud-like cushions and throws. For statement chairs or unique pieces of furniture, I adore the eclectic pieces you can find at Eichholtz and for soft furnishings I opt for Anthropologie and Amara.
Who do you look to for interiors inspiration?
Pinterest is always my first port of call when it comes to finding inspiration for my interiors. My Pinterest boards are brimming with luxurious metallics and eclectic textures. I also look to a number of interior blogs when styling a particular room. Apartment No4 is one of my favourite reads.
Tell us how you go about getting your home Christmas ready?
When Christmas comes around I tend to add a touch of sparkle to each room. Statement wreaths are a great way to inject a little personality into your home as well as garlands and of course a Christmas tree bursting with baubles and topped with a star. Last but not least, I add some festive scents to each room in the form of a three wick candle. Neom Organics is my go-to brand for stunning Christmas candles.
What home accessories can you not live without at Christmas time?
Ooh! Where to start? Cosy cable knit blankets to snuggle into, oversized cushions and lots of metallic accessories. I love anything that sparkles. A statement bar cart is a really nice addition to any social space in your home as it can create the perfect festive focal point in a living room or a dining room.
Other than an excuse to fill your home with fabulous things, what else do you love about this time of year?
Christmas is the perfect time of year for overdue catch ups and festive gatherings and I love to entertain at home.
